The World Games 2009 Kaohsiung Bowling Challenge

.210309. Kaoshiung World Games Bowling Challenge @ Mega Lanes Sunway Pyramid

Guess most of you would have already noticed the revamp of my blog by now and here it is the first post after a 80% completed revamp. It was and ESPN event coverage invited by Alice George Communication which I extended to Joshua and Aaron.

The bowling challenge between team Malaysia and team Taiwan was held immediately after the finals of the 32nd Malaysian International Open Bowling Championship in Sunway Mega Lanes which was eventually won by Zulmazran Zulkifli who’s also taking part in this challenge.

Anyway, this bowling challenge is actually a part of the pre-event promotions leading up to the exciting World Games 2009 at Kaohsiung, Taiwan. If you have not already know, it is actually the second biggest international multi-sports games after Olympics which also sets a platform for athletes to compete for the higest accolade in their field. The games, with over 30 sports over 11 days, will be held from July 16th 2009 till July 26th 2009 with approximately 5,000 athletes and officials from nearly 100 countries around the globe. The spark to the excitement lay in the Main Stadium, designed by Toyo Ito, a well-known architect from Japan, that sees the installation of solar panel on the rooftop making it a “green” building.

*tokens of appreciation and acknowledgement*

Team Malaysia is represented by our very own former World Champion Shalin Zulkifli and Zulmazran Zulkifli while the Taiwanese ambassador team consists of Wang Yu Ling and Hsiao Chun-Ho. Wang Yu Ling has also achieved many major honours and just to name a few, she’s the gold medalist in 1996 and 1998 World Youth Championship and also in 1998 Asian Games.

*let the games begin!!*

Team Malaysia started off a little shaky in the beginning while Chun-Ho gave a great start to the Taiwanese team with a strike’ing start!! When Zulmazran came up to his game and bringing up his just concluded gold medal winning form, Malaysia was back in the competition and led from 5th frame through. It looked as if we were going to win the challenge before Shahlin broke her game in the 6th frame. It wasn’t until the final frame when Wang Yu Ling hit all 3 strikes that we finally had a winner. Team Taiwan won the challenge with Chun-Ho scoring 189 and Yu Ling with 204 while Shahlin only managed a 168 with Zulmazran with the highest score of 206.

The Managing Director of Kaoshiung World Games 2009, Ms Shyh-Fang Lui, then presented the winner’s cheque to and prizes to both teams before the event finally concluded.

*may the better team prevails in the world games*
